We are publishing submissions about the COVID-19 crisis from readers daily on NewPhilosopher.com in the hope that it can help us all make sense of what is happening, and as a historical record of how it made us feel. Here are your thoughts, from around the world.

They say that actions speak louder than words.

But maybe there are times when we have to rely on words more than usual.

Because what if you can’t shake someone’s hand to show you respect them?

What if you can’t give someone a hug to tell them everything will be alright?

What if you can’t go to a cafe or cinema to show how much you enjoy another’s company?

How do you show love and care to someone who has to stay at home alone for 14 days?

Maybe that’s the time when it’s most important to share simple, honest words.

I’m thinking of you.

I know you’re scared.

It’s hard to be alone.

It’s hard when there are so many unknowns.

But here’s a joke.

And isn’t this beautiful music?

Because we’re going to get through this together, even if we have to be apart.
